You will be personally guided by Yoga to an ancient ceremonial site, where local Balinese people have purify their soul for generations. We'll meet at our traditional family home for Balinese tea, coffee and treats. We will then dress in ceremonial clothing (supplied by us) and you can see us crafting the offerings needed for the family house temple. We will visit the house temple for a short prayer, before leaving. After a 35 minute drive and 5 minute trek, we will arrive at the waterfall temple. You will then have the opportunity to take part in the Melukat purification ceremony. This is a very authentic and spiritual experience in which you will be blessed. You will feel the nature around you, the positive aura, and the high energy within yourself. Yoga will share the meaning behind every step along the way. After the waterfall and ceremony, we will return to our our village for a light lunch and reflection upon the experience.
In this devotional treasure, you’ll find 40 daily reflections on the passion and death of Our Lord. Each day’s reflection - suitable for Lent or for any time of the year - includes a scriptural text, a meditation, a brief prayer, and an excerpt from the visions of two celebrated Catholic mystics: Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824) and Venerable Maria de Agreda (1602-1665).In these reflections, you’ll watch with Jesus as he prays in the Garden of Gethsemane...grieve beside him as he stands trial...climb with Him on the way to Calvary...mourn with his Blessed Mother at the foot of the Cross. You’ll also ponder the roles of other figures in this sorrowful drama: not only Mary but also Peter and Judas, Herod and Pilate, Simon the Cyrene and Dismas the Good Thief...and, of course, Satan, whose hope of victory over Jesus is dashed in the end.Do you want to advance from virtue to virtue, from grace to grace? Are you seeking the entire sanctification of your soul? These are the rewards, insists St. Bonaventure, of those who meditate frequently on the sufferings of Christ. 1. Language: English. Deepen your devotion to the Blessed Mother with this unique look at Mary’s relationship with her son throughout Jesus’ life - and beyond. Fr. McBride invites us to know Mary not only as the young mother of a newborn but also as the nurturer and caretaker of her son through his adolescence and into his adult ministry. We see Mary in grief at Christ’s death, and we meet her as the mother of the infant Church at Pentecost. These 42 reflections - each presented with a Scripture passage, inspirational quote, meditation and reflection question - help us understand the whole picture of Mary as a mother: of Jesus, of Christianity, and of each of us! 1. The Martrydom of Blessed Miguel ProThe cold, biting air of the November morning sent a chill across his face. His hair blew in the wind. The sun was shining brightly. It was a glorious day. Miguel surveyed the situation in the courtyard. It was as he feared. Soldiers were lined up for a firing squad! All the eyewitnesses, various generals and dignitaries, as well as members of the press, came to attention as they saw for the first time, the famous Jesuit, who had made such fools of President Calles and his entire police force for so long. Cameras began clicking photos for posterity of this man, who looked more like a student than a conspirator. Blessed Miguel Pro walked straight as a rod into the center of the courtyard. It was as if he was running the show, as he had always done. He was asked his last request. He asked to pray. He went down on his knees, folded his arms, and closed his eyes. What did Blessed Miguel Pro say to the Lord on this, the most important moment of his life? Did he ask for strength and courage, to set an example not only for his brothers, but for all those who were yet to come? Did he ask for help from his founder, the fearless Ignatius Loyola? Did he speak to Mary? Did he ask her to help him now? He needed her so much. He wanted to do this right. He wanted to give glory to her Son, Jesus, and to her. He wanted them to be proud of him. He wanted all the martyrs before him, to look on him with pride. He wanted, by his last simple act, to make the plight of his countrymen, worthwhile. Blessed Miguel Pro stood up. His communication with Jesus and his heavenly family gave Miguel the strength he needed. Eyewitnesses report, his face was aglow, shining as if a reflection of the sun. He raised his arm to his executioners in the form of a blessing. He shouted in a loud, strong voice, "May God have mercy on you! May God bless you! Lord, Thou knowest that I am in 1. Find hope in suffering in this lecture set by Henri Nouwen, one of the 20th century's great spiritual masters, as your guide. In our society, we learn to hide our grief, to suppress our joy, to fight darkness with darkness. We are like Jesus' generation, to whom he says, "We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry" (Luke 7:32). Now, the spiritual master Henri Nouwen helps you practice healing through both suffering and joy. As you learn to embrace mourning as a means of healing, you will discover true life in the Spirit. You will embody one of the most powerful beatitudes: "Blessed are those who mourn." In the first half of the series, you will learn how you are called to be a healer. The spirit of healing, Nouwen says, requires both mourning your losses and dancing in joy. By embracing your fears and losses, you will reclaim your identity as a beloved child of God. Throughout these talks, Nouwen weaves scripture, his own experiences of suffering, and compassionate insights gleaned from a lifetime of spiritual reflection. Let him help you find true healing and joy. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Henri J. M. Nouwen. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/nykm/000319/bk_nykm_000319_sample.mp3. With about 1.7 billion members and growing, Islam is the second largest religion in the world. Now you can understand Islam and its complex relationship with Christian theology. In Christian and Islamic theology, you will deepen your own Christian theological reflection by examining the ways Islam addresses Christian teaching. In doing so, you will seek to remember what Blessed John Paul II described as the "role of the Holy Spirit in the process by which knowledge matures into wisdom" (Fides et Ratio, 44). Your guide for this insightful examination is Prof. Gabriel Said Reynolds (PhD, Yale University), an expert on Muslim-Christian relations and professor at the University of Notre Dame. Through 21 thorough and enlightening lectures, you will learn about the history, teachings, and theology of Islam. In this course you will examine Islamic works, from the Qur'an to 21st-century Islamic apologies, which address Christian theology. First you will explore the development of Islamic thought on Christianity in the Qur'an and influential Islamic works of the classical period. You will then see how Christians responded to the challenge posed by the new religion. Finally, you will ask how Christians - concerned for the proclamation of their faith and harmonious dialogue between religions - might think of the church's relationship with Islam today. 1.
