Developed by two Harvard brain experts, here is a scientific, accessible approach to achieving success by retraining your brain to win. Ever wonder why some people seem blessed with success? In fact, everyone is capable of winning in life - you just need to develop the right brain for it. In The Winner's Brain, Drs. Jeff Brown and Mark Fenske use cutting-edge neuroscience to identify the secrets of those who succeed no matter what - and demonstrate how little it has to do with IQ or upbringing. Through simple everyday practices, Brown and Fenske explain how to unlock the brain's hidden potential by establishing: Balance: Make emotions work in your favor Bounce: Create a failure-resistant brain Opportunity Radar: Spot hot prospects previously hidden by problems Focus Laser: Lock into what's important Effort Accelerator: Cultivate the drive to win Along the way, they introduce you to dozens of interesting people who possess "win factors" (like the inventor of Whac-A-Mole) and share surprising information (like why you should never take a test while wearing red). The Winner's Brain will not only give you an edge - it'll motivate you to pursue your personal and professional dreams. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Don Hagen. When I learned that I had stage-four lung cancer, I started the hard battle to survive it. What I knew then could have fit into a thimble. There was a tumor in my lung along with its partner in my brain. Life had to change quickly for Fred and me because we weren’t sure where our path was leading us to. During the surgeries and treatment phases, I could not do simple tasks such as laundry or the grocery shopping. Blessed with good friends and family members we were able to live an almost normal life. Fred set up a whiteboard in the living room for scheduling my trips to the hospital. Calls came from friends and family to sign up and Fred would put their names on the board so that I never had to worry about who was picking me up. We were grateful for the medical teams who walked us through brain surgery, thoracic surgery, and treatment, which included 15 sessions of whole brain surgery along with four months of chemotherapy. We listened to what they told us to do and how to live in our own home. A bond develops between the medical staff and the patient, as well as with friends and family. There are no secrets to conceal from them; our medical team saved my life because we told them everything. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Al Moulliet. In the first week of November, 2011, I began to receive the words you are about to hear from a wise and very loving source not entirely known to me. As a writer, I can tell you truly that these words are not my own - though they did pass through my brain on their journey from a higher source, then through my fingers, and finally onto the keypad where I typed them out. I can say this because I know from my own experience that writing is hard work, and this process was just about effortless. The only effort I felt was the discipline it took for me to get out of the way and let it happen on its own. Where these words seem to me most pure and true, I can take little to no credit - I just showed up and did so gladly. All I can is that in the best moments, I was able to stand back and allow what was coming through to do so with as little of my own noise I could hope. I wrote most days until just after Solstice, 2011, when the process took a small turn - as you'll see as you listen through to the end. I feel most blessed to have been graced with this presence and feel forever changed by it. Most of all, I am clear that we all have access to this same deep source whenever we call upon it for guidance, for clarity, and for its loving touch. We need only ask. I hope you enjoy hearing these words of hope as much as I did and still continue to do. Thank you. In Peace, Mark Zegarelli 1. Language: English. Narrator: Mark Zegarelli.
